The questions that recur

If your question is not here, write to us: the answer will be added.

Is a medical order required?

Yes. For all collection and laboratory testing (blood, urine, stool), a valid order signed by a physician or an authorised professional in Québec is required.

For nursing care, the need is assessed when the appointment is requested, and certain care also requires an order.

What paperwork do I need to have with me for the visit?

The physician’s original requisition or order, together with a valid piece of photo identification.

Can I receive the service at my workplace?

Yes. Where privacy and hygiene conditions allow it, the collection or the care can be performed directly at your office or your workplace.

How does a visit go?

The nurse arrives at the agreed time with all the sterile equipment required. The collection or the care is performed quickly and gently.

The samples are then secured and travel to the partner laboratory according to its requirements.

Which services are offered?

Two categories: blood collection (by medical order, at home or at the workplace, along with urine, stool and other specimen collection) and private nursing care.

Nursing care includes vital signs, monitoring of certain health parameters, basic nursing assessment, simple wound care and simple dressing changes.

How much does the service cost?

Pricing is on request. An estimate will be given to you before the appointment is confirmed.

Is the cost covered by my private insurance?

Most group and private insurance plans reimburse the cost of blood collection and nursing care. Check the terms of your own contract with your insurer.

An official receipt is issued to you immediately after the service.

How long does a visit take?

A visit usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes.

Who performs the collection and the care?

All collection and nursing care is performed by a qualified licensed practical nurse, a registered member of her professional order (OIIAQ), within the limits of her scope of practice.

When will I get my results?

Results are sent directly to the ordering physician by the analysis laboratory, on the timeline that belongs to each test.

VÉNA SANTÉ neither releases nor interprets any result.
